About Aomori Prefecture

Aomori is the northernmost region of Japan’s main island—
a snowy place shaped by its long winters.

This land is full of charm:
🍎 Amazing food
(we produce more than 100% of our own!)
🌲 Beautiful nature
(Shirakami-Sanchi, Oirase Gorge, and more)
🤝 Warm-hearted people
(a little shy, but always kind)

I’ll share more of Aomori’s wonders with you, little by little, through this blog.

What Is Aomori’s Culture?

If I had to describe it in one phrase,
it would be: “How people live with winter.”

Life in Aomori has always been shaped by deep snow.
Over time, each region developed its own ways of enduring and enjoying winter.

Aomori also has three distinct cultural areas
Tsugaru, Nanbu, and Shimokita
each with its own dialect, traditions, and personality.
